Easter…baskets?

It’s that time of year again, where Easter is around the corner. Where we debate with our inner selves if we want to haul the kids to the chaotic Easter egg hunts to get a couple pieces of candy. To hopefully bask in the warm Spring sun, or sometimes wait in frigid temperatures (we’re in Idaho so you never know what you’re going to get). Part of these festivities is concocting a fun Easter basket.

If you’re anything like me, you like to keep traditions, but maybe not so traditionally. I just like to put a unique twist on things. I did the regular wicker Easter basket filled with eggs and candy for a few years, but as my kids got older and more diverse I decided I wanted to mix it up. A couple years ago my kiddos were (well, still are) into the whole mystery/surprise toys. I was at Michaels and I found these very large plastic eggs and I thought let’s make this their Easter basket! It was a challenge to fit their summer toys and candy in them and close them. But let me tell you it was one of the funnest Easter baskets yet. The kids loved breaking the giant eggs open to find what was inside.

Then last year we got a camper trailer, and I thought to myself, “Self, we need camper chairs.” I like to keep Easter baskets fairly simple as well as related to Spring/Summer festivities. As I was deciding that we need things for a Summer full of camping that’s when I decided to make the camping chairs the baskets. I filled the chairs with sunglasses, toys, and candy of course. Then to top it off I bent a pool noodle into each one so that it would look like the handle. I was over the moon with it, and the kids loved their new chairs.
