Mini Roadtrip, Part 1

We just took a little mini road trip to ‘Colorful Colorado’ then hit Moab, Utah, and made our way back up through Salt Lake and home to Idaho. It was a lot of driving, but still so worth. I very much needed the break from my monotony. We packed a lot in so this will probably be a set of two blog posts :).

Colorado

The first leg was Colorado. We woke up bright and early on a Friday and decided to go straight to Denver from Idaho. Our first day in Denver we just explored downtown and did a little bit of shopping as it was my birthday. However it wasn’t too eventful, as I’m pregnant and although we found some adorable little boutiques, nothing would fit me but that’s okay!

Day two, we wanted to go to a waterpark (it is middle of June after all and 90+ degree weather). We didn’t want to go to a big one like Water World as our kiddos are still little enough that they probably wouldn’t have been able to do most of the slides. We ended up finding one called Pirate’s Cove and it was perfect! They had a splash pad, a large ship in the middle of a shallow pool with water cannons and buckets, a lazy river, and then a deeper pool for adults. And let me tell you the cost was much cheaper than if we had gone to an amusement park. If you are ever in the same position as us with small children but still wanting to go to a water park, check out their site: https://www.englewoodco.gov/parks-recreation-library-golf/pirates-cove

Day 3, we ventured to the Denver Zoo with my best friend Dannel who works there. This zoo is quite large, and they do a wonderful job of caring for the animals and ensuring their happiness and health. They even had a new addition/building where you can view animals getting medical treatments. We got to witness a monkey getting her well check exam and it was very informative.

Day 4, Manitou Springs! This is one of my all time favorite towns (so far). I could write a whole post on this but I’ll try to keep it short. We lived in Colorado Springs for a few short years ( south of Denver) and right next to it nestled in the mountain, is what I like to call a little snow globe town of Manitou. It is full of unique shops, boutiques, and eateries. In addition to that it has the coolest arcade with some vintage arcade games. We spent the better part of a whole day shopping, and ending it with an arcade visit for the kiddos of course. Oh, and, if you have dogs they are dog friendly and many shops let you bring them in! I highly, HIGHLY recommend visiting this place if you are ever in that region.

After a long hot day in Manitou we went and spent our last night in Colorado and then headed out the next morning through the breathtaking mountains to Maob, Utah.
