Growing up the class Valentines party was probably one of my favorite ones of the school year. I remember loving all of the cards and seeing everyone’s interests reflected in them. For some reason I specifically remember Britney Spears cards that picked out one year, with their pale pink background and silver borders. Sometimes there would be the staple cherry sucker attached. Fast forward to today, there are SO many options for kiddos to give as the class Valentines favors. Sometimes I love to keep it old fashioned with a card and a candy, and other times I like to create class valentines from the heart.
A couple of past Valentines I am quite fond of
I really love to include my kids and have them pick out what they would like to do. One year we found wooden heart pendants, so they painted them and then we hand made necklaces. It was so fun to spend time together. Another year when my son was into Pokemon we used cardstock paper to cut and glue heart shaped poke balls. We made it a card holder so we could then put in a Pokemon card.
Last year was probably my most favorite class Valentines yet though! I got a wild hair and asked my kids if they want to make homemade stingray plushies with Valentines fabric. My oldest son said yes, my youngest was in daycare so I decided for him. My girls decided on something else, which in hindsight probably saved my sanity. I ended up sewing and stuffing around 35 stingrays! At the time we had JoAnns (RIP to the best fabric store) so we were able to score some cute Valentines flannel fabric. I had a pattern that I got from Etsy a couple years prior, which you can find here if you want to try it yourself: Stingray sewing pattern, and the rest is history.

We found these super cute Valentines popcorn boxes that we were able to stuff them in perfectly, and finished it with them hugging a sucker.
This was such an exciting project, from beginning to end. Maybe there were some frustrating moments 😉 but I loved making unique and themed favors for their class parties. Do I have this motivation every year? No, but that’s okay. If you’re feeling bored, have a sewing machine, and want to make something then I recommend this! Whether it’s one or 40. Creativity is soothing for the soul.
